GENERATING THE GENUS g + 1 GOERITZ GROUP OF A GENUS g HANDLEBODY
A specific set of 4g + 1 elements is shown to generate the Goeritz group of the genus g + 1 Heegaard splitting of a genus g handlebody. These generators are consistent with Powell’s proposed generating set for the Goeritz group of the genus g + 1 splitting of S. There are two proofs: one using purely classical techniques and one using thin position.
متن کاملQuotient Arens regularity of $L^1(G)$
Let $mathcal{A}$ be a Banach algebra with BAI and $E$ be an introverted subspace of $mathcal{A}^prime$. In this paper we study the quotient Arens regularity of $mathcal{A}$ with respect to $E$ and prove that the group algebra $L^1(G)$ for a locally compact group $G$, is quotient Arens regular with respect to certain introverted subspace $E$ of $L^infty(G)$. Some related result are given as well.
متن کاملG-Frames, g-orthonormal bases and g-Riesz bases
G-Frames in Hilbert spaces are a redundant set of operators which yield a representation for each vector in the space. In this paper we investigate the connection between g-frames, g-orthonormal bases and g-Riesz bases. We show that a family of bounded operators is a g-Bessel sequences if and only if the Gram matrix associated to its denes a bounded operator.
متن کاملSchubert Cells and Cohomology of the Spaces G/p
We study the homological properties of the factor space G/P, where G is a complex semisimple Lie group and Ρ a parabolic subgroup of G. To this end we compare two descriptions of the cohomology of such spaces. One of these makes use of the partition of G/P into cells (Schubert cells), while the other consists in identifying the cohomology of G/P with certain polynomials on the Lie algebra of th...
متن کاملEstimating Process Capability Indices Using Univariate g and h Distribution
Process capability of a process is defined as inherent variability of a process which is running under chance cause of variation only. Process capability index is measuring the ability of a process to meet the product specification limit. Generally process capability is measured by 6 assuming that the product characteristic follows Normal distribution. In many practical situations the product ...
